YOUR MORTGAGE, EXPLAINED
Can I cancel a refinance after signing?
Certain transactions secured by a principal dwelling may have a federal right of rescission, but exceptions and specific timing rules apply. Purchase loans are treated differently. Review the actual notice and ask the lender or a qualified attorney about your transaction. Do not calculate a legal deadline from a general article alone.

Identify the transaction
Occupancy, purpose and lender relationship can affect the applicable rules. Ask whether your specific loan includes a right to cancel and which parties receive it.
Read the notice
Confirm the deadline, delivery method and destination in the actual documents. Keep proof of any timely action. A phone conversation may not satisfy the required process.
Understand funding timing
A rescission period, where applicable, can affect when proceeds become available. Do not promise cash to another party before the lender confirms disbursement timing.

If documents are missing, dates are unclear or you want to cancel, contact the lender and qualified legal counsel immediately. This website cannot determine or extend your legal deadline.
