Turn market uncertainty into a better purchase conversation
In this April 2025 conversation, Eric explains that buyers and sellers can share the same worries. That can create a reason to discuss terms, even when the market feels uncomfortable.

Recognize the seller’s perspective
A buyer may worry about rates and prices while a seller worries about finding a committed buyer. Eric’s point is that uncertainty can affect both sides of the negotiation. It does not mean every seller is flexible or every home is overpriced. The video’s example of many competing offers in a lower rate environment is an illustration, not a reliable prediction.
Ask what would make the purchase work
Decide which issue matters most before you negotiate. Is it the price, the cash you need to bring, the monthly payment or the closing schedule? Bring that priority to your agent and lender. A seller credit and a price reduction solve different problems, so ask for the actual effect of each option before choosing a request.
Keep the decision grounded
Negotiating successfully does not make an uncomfortable payment comfortable. Use a written comparison that includes your planned cash contribution and what remains available for everyday life after closing. If the numbers do not fit, continuing to prepare can be a responsible choice. The purpose of reviewing an uncertain market is to understand your options, not to create pressure to buy immediately.
Should I buy simply because other buyers are nervous?
No. Use the opportunity to investigate terms, then decide based on your budget and goals.
What should I ask Eric to compare?
Ask how a lower price and a permitted seller credit would affect your cash needs and payment for the same property.
