What the Zillow listing dispute teaches buyers about their search

Eric's May 21, 2026 recording addressed a Chicago listing-feed disruption. The practical lesson remains useful: confirm the homes available through your agent and prepare your financing before relying on a saved search. The original news needs its date and subsequent developments attached.

Read the recording as a dated news update

The court record documents a May 2026 interruption of MRED listing feeds to Zillow and their restoration under a temporary order on May 22. A September 16, 2026 opinion later denied a preliminary injunction and dissolved that order. Those events do not establish today's listing count. The video's permanent-loss framing should not be treated as a current description of Zillow's coverage.

Ask how your search gets its listings

Tell your agent your locations, price range, property types and deal breakers. Ask which listing sources their alerts cover, how updates arrive and whether a home's status has been confirmed before you arrange a tour. Keep useful public searches, but reconcile differences with your agent. No agent, MLS or portal should be assumed to display every property that could possibly be sold.

Prepare to evaluate a home without rushing

The recording also recommends completing financing work early. Ask which income, asset and credit documents have actually been reviewed and what conditions remain. A thorough review can surface issues before an offer; it does not turn financed buying into a cash purchase or guarantee closing. Have the payment range, available cash and contract questions ready when a suitable home appears.

Does the May video prove those listings are still missing?

No. The legal and feed arrangements changed after publication. Confirm current availability rather than relying on the old headline.

Does early underwriting guarantee an offer will close?

No. Ask about remaining borrower, property and transaction conditions and keep your finances stable through closing.

Sources and scope

The original video predates later court developments. This written companion updates that context and focuses on search preparation. It does not report a verified October 2026 inventory count for any portal.
