YOUR MORTGAGE, EXPLAINED
A recession does not give every homebuyer the same opportunity
The video considers whether lower borrowing costs during an economic slowdown could support housing demand. Treat that as one possible interaction, while also considering how a weaker economy could affect your own ability to buy and keep a home.

Separate financing conditions from household security
Mortgage pricing can change as expectations for growth, inflation and policy change. A recession does not guarantee a particular rate or home-price direction. Even if a quote improves, an income reduction or job uncertainty can make a purchase less comfortable or affect qualification. Review both sides of the decision.
Test the purchase under a setback
Ask whether the payment, repair budget and reserves would remain workable during a disruption. Examine local sales and employment conditions rather than assuming every housing market follows one historical pattern. A lower rate alone does not establish that the property is affordable or that its value will increase.
Should I wait for a recession to buy?
A recession is not a reliable personal buying signal. Use your finances, available terms, housing needs and alternatives to assess the decision.
